One of these days I'll have to get a new HOTAS and jump in again. I do miss the game despite many of the decisions they've made I disagree with. I appreciate you coming back to this ancient video, gods I was so young and full of hope back then. Thank you Commander o7

That is mighty praise thank you very much, though the game has changed a bit since this was made but the basic premise remains unchanged. I’m an avid consumer of Jingles’ content, I’d say that was an accurate assessment lol. This game is fairly difficult, the ships behave like ships so don’t beat yourself up about it. I spent a couple days in the tutorial mapping buttons on my hotas and figuring out how to fly straight. I started with K&M and while the transition was jarring I firmly believe the hotas is the way to go if anything for the feeling of flying this game offers. If you get one make sure it has yaw control or you get the pedals for it, I didn’t realize how much I used that axis until my replacement didn’t have it built in. But the hotas by design has everything laid out for easy access with enough buttons to actually fly a simulated ship, harder to aim but easier to fly. My advice would be to just jump in, you can always start over as I did in my let’s play for the at the time competition. Failure is always the best teacher so go get blown up a few times it’ll be worth the frustration haha. As far as my do as I say not as I do lol yeah I was just showing off that was more for new players freaking out about the details of station etiquette as I did when I started. Undocking the first time was both terrifying and awe inspiring.

It amazes me with how much life this old video still has with how much the game has changed. I’m happy you (an established player) enjoyed and found value in it. Always nice to wake up to a positive comment, thank you. o7

Yeah I miss the old ways personally, it really felt good to earn the Asp after running rares in the T6. Now you can fart in 3 directions and have a Krait.

The rating systems back then were for stronger people, before being offended was a full time occupation lol. Between Maximilian, the undead crew, and that scene at the end it was a trip to think I watched that with my parent’s blessing. I believe they’ve added a lot to the sights to exploration since I was last out past the bubble. They kept changing how black holes look so it wouldn’t surprise me if they tweaked that as well. If memory serves the system itself was always clear which would make sense as the material would have combined to form it and the rest blown away.

I don’t think I have it recorded but there was a player python that came into one of the popular trade routes. He had quite the bounty on him but he wasn’t interdicting anyone, he just sat there in supercruise. The red “wanted” sign drawing would be bounty hunters ever increasing his bounty. By the time someone took him down the price on his head was something like 8 million. Back then that was unheard of and a ton of money. I had a go at him myself in my python and got whooped, the dude was on a whole other level, nice guy too gracious in victory and a good sport. Just goes to show the nature of humans we see a challenge and despite knowing better a lot of us will roll the dice anyway. I figure it’s the same with the pirates, maybe they’ll be the one to take down that python and never worry about money again.

Go to settings > keybinds to make sure but I believe its 1,2,3 by default on the keyboard. It’s been years since I looked so I’m probably not right.

@@TroaBarton I figured it out about a week later. It's the arrow keys. Up goes to engineering, Right goes to weapons, Left goes to system, the down arrow "levels" them out to default. Most of the time I dump everything into engineering for faster movement.

First Last yeah I would have never guessed that, I completely remapped my controls before I finished the tutorials. Arrow keys are a terrible place for those... They’re kind of important..

Slightly better than talking to yourself.. Oh yes it’s a program called voice attack. I think it’s on steam now, not sure back in my day I had to get it direct from the guy’s website.

Nomadski it has a higher skill floor but once you get the hang of it it’s super easy. The Cutter on the other hand, that’s a beast to park.

Deathscythe was my second favorite, both the pilot and the Gundam of the original 5. Epyon and Millardo was a tough competitor for second overall though.

@@TroaBarton I never was a fan of Millardo but I definitely did luv the Epyon. Bro I love the toonami series the opening song was the beginning of bad ass op for me.

Mike Chaves those old toonami promos are probably responsible for me getting into editing and eventually into UA-cam. Old school toonami was amazing, a ton of good memories watching DBZ before Gundam Wing with my friends. I liked Millardo because of his conviction, despite living a double life he had one goal, peace at any cost. Almost a combination of Magneto and Vader. To top it off much like Trowa he was a nobody, he wasn’t genetically enhanced, he earned his place in the military as Zechs, mastered Tallgeese, and ultimately the zero system within Epyon. His ending acts in the series are admitting he was wrong and finding a better way. Admitting you’re wrong is probably one of the hardest things for a person to do, it’s a trait I personally highly value.
